Signal reach and resolution

The OREI EX-165C extends HDMI video and audio up to 165 feet over a single Cat6 or Cat7 cable. It delivers 1080p at 60 Hz with 4.95 Gbps bandwidth. An HDMI loop output lets a local display stay active while the remote screen receives the same signal. Bi-directional IR pass-through allows control from either end.

Cable standard and bandwidth limits

The extender operates within HDMI 1.4 and HDCP 1.4 specifications, capping video at 1080p 60 Hz. Cat6 or Cat7 cable is required for the full 165-foot distance; lesser categories will reduce reach or stability. Audio supports PCM 7.1, Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio pass-through.

Setup requirements

Verify that both source and display have HDMI ports and that a solid Cat6 or Cat7 run exists between the two locations. Only one power adapter is needed thanks to Power over Cable, so confirm an outlet near either the transmitter or receiver. The kit includes IR emitter and receiver cables for the bi-directional control path.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the EX-165C or the EX-165C+ for my 1080p setup?

The EX-165C supports 1080p@60Hz up to 165ft over CAT6/7 with bi-directional IR and PoC; the EX-165C+ extends 1080p to 230ft and adds 4K@30Hz support with the same cable and IR features.

What does 4.95Gbps bandwidth deliver when the extender is installed?

It carries full 1080p@60Hz video and audio including PCM 7.1, Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio without compression over a single CAT6/7 run up to 165ft.

How does the HDMI 1.4 interface limit what I can send through this extender?

HDMI 1.4 caps the link at 4.95Gbps, so the maximum supported format is 1080p@60Hz with HDCP 1.4; 4K, HDR and HDCP 2.2 content will not pass.
