2.5-inch SATA enclosure for portable storage

This black plastic enclosure accepts a single 2.5-inch SATA hard drive or SSD and connects to a host via USB 3.0. It requires no external power supply and supports drives up to 6 TB. Compatible devices include computers, TVs, phones and the PS5.

Sustained transfer with UASP and TRIM

UASP protocol reduces command overhead so large sequential transfers hold speed longer than with basic bulk-only transport. TRIM support lets the operating system maintain SSD write performance over time. The enclosure is suited to tasks such as game loading, photo and video editing or HD movie playback where steady throughput matters.

Bus-powered thermals and silent operation

With no fan or separate power brick the unit draws all power from the USB port, keeping total consumption low. The plastic shell acts as a passive heatsink for the drive, so temperatures stay within normal operating limits during typical workloads. Operation is silent, making it appropriate for quiet environments.

Questions about this item

How much heat or noise does the USB 3.0 enclosure generate when a 2.5-inch SATA drive runs all day?

The plastic case has no fan, so it relies on passive cooling and runs silently; heat depends on the drive you install.

What must I already own to use this enclosure with a 2.5-inch SATA drive?

You need a 2.5-inch SATA hard drive or SSD and a host device with a USB 3.0 port.

Will a 2.5-inch SATA drive from an older laptop be recognised and support TRIM through this enclosure?

Yes, the enclosure supports UASP and TRIM for any 2.5-inch SATA drive up to 6 TB capacity.
