Orico 9728C3 2-Bay SATA Enclosure

The Orico 9728C3 is a dual-bay hard drive and SSD enclosure that connects through a USB-C interface running at 5 Gbps. It accepts 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch SATA drives with a single-drive limit of 22 TB and a combined capacity of 44 TB. A 60 W power adapter is included for stable dual-drive operation.

Suits solo backups and local archives

This enclosure suits users who want a simple direct-attached storage box for personal backups or a local database on Windows or Mac. It is not for buyers who need hardware RAID, more than two simultaneous drives or a faster host connection than USB 3.1 Gen 1.

USB 3.1 Gen 1 5 Gbps host link

The single specification that decides fit is the USB 3.1 Gen 1 connection delivering up to 5 Gbps bandwidth with real-world throughput around 260 MB/s. If your workflow needs higher sustained throughput or a different host protocol, this unit will not meet that requirement.

Questions about this item

What size SATA drives fit in the 9728C3 bays?

The enclosure accepts 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch SATA I, II and III hard drives or SSDs, each up to 22 TB.

How do I connect the enclosure to my computer and power it?

Plug the included USB-C 2-in-1 cable into a USB or Type-C port, connect the 12 V 4 A (60 W) power adapter, then press the magnetic cover to insert drives.

Does the 9728C3 need any routine maintenance such as fan cleaning or firmware updates?

No fan is present; the ABS plastic chassis relies on passive cooling and auto-sleep mode, so only occasional dusting of the vents is required.
