1-1/2 Inch No Hub Cap Schedule 40

This blue polypropylene cap fits 1-1/2 inch nominal pipe in Schedule 40 drainage systems. The no hub design accepts plain-end pipe without threads for solvent-weld installation. It operates from -20 degrees to 160 degrees F in standard plumbing applications.

Pre Applied Thread Sealant Not Included

The fitting ships without pre applied thread sealant and without a separate seal. Installers must supply their own solvent cement or compatible sealant to create a watertight joint. This gives the plumber full control over the bonding material used.

Nominal Pipe Size 1 1/2 Inches

The 1 1/2 inch nominal size determines compatibility with Schedule 40 pipe of the same designation. An outside diameter of 1 7/8 inches and overall length of 2 1/4 inches confirm the physical fit. Builders needing a different diameter must select another cap.

Questions about this item

How often should the polypropylene cap be inspected or replaced?

The Schedule 40 polypropylene material is rated for continuous service from -20 °F to 160 °F; inspect annually for stress cracking or deformation and replace if the wall shows thinning.

What is the first limit reached when the cap is under constant pressure and temperature?

The 160 °F upper temperature rating is the primary design limit; sustained exposure above this value will accelerate creep and reduce the pressure-holding capacity of the Schedule 40 wall.

Does the cap generate heat or noise during all-day operation?

As a static, non-mechanical fitting the cap produces no noise, no vibration and no measurable heat of its own; it simply conducts the fluid temperature up to the 160 °F rating.
