  • Lightweight 0.71 ounce shield adds minimal mass to the laptop

Copper heatsink for M.2 2280 SSD

This copper thermal shield fits the M.2 2280 slot in Dell Inspiron 15 Plus 7510, Inspiron 16 Plus 7610 and Vostro 7510 laptops from 2022. It replaces the original heatsink to draw heat away from the solid-state drive during heavy workloads. The part is supplied new and ready to install.

Cooling capacity limited to single-sided M.2 2280

The shield covers one side of the module, so it handles typical read and write loads on single-sided SSDs. It does not contact double-sided modules or provide active airflow, so sustained peak transfer rates on high-power drives may still throttle. Builders needing dual-sided coverage or forced-air cooling must look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Will the 3.54 x 0.91 x 0.2 inch heatsink fit alongside existing components in a Dell Inspiron 15 Plus 7510?

The shield is designed as a direct replacement for the original slot 1 heatsink in the Inspiron 15 Plus 7510, 16 Plus 7610 and Vostro 7510 2022 models, matching the factory footprint.

How can I confirm the copper thermal shield is making proper contact with my M.2 2280 SSD after installation?

After fitting the shield, the SSD should sit firmly beneath it with no visible gap; a drop in drive temperatures under load compared to running without the heatsink indicates correct thermal transfer.
