UV-C Germicidal Lamp for Air and Water Purification

This OSRAM Puritec NHS lamp is a low-pressure UV-C source designed for disinfection rather than general illumination. It targets micro-organisms in air, water and on surfaces without using chemicals. The 7 W T12.5 bulb fits a G23 base and carries the manufacturer part number 20390.

Sustained Output at Defined Wall Temperatures

The undoped lamp reaches its optimum wall temperature of 40 °C when the surrounding air is near 25 °C. At that point the mercury line radiation in the short-wave ultraviolet range stabilises for continuous purification duty. Amalgam-doped variants run hotter, around 100 °C, and are less sensitive to ambient temperature changes.

Direct G23 Socket Installation

The two-pin G23 base plugs into a compatible socket without tools, but the fixture must shield people from direct UV-C exposure. The quartz envelope transmits germicidal wavelengths while blocking ozone-generating radiation. Rated life is 8000 hours; after that output drops and the lamp should be replaced.
