SAS 2 Storage Controller for NEO Libraries

The Overland Storage OV-SAS901711 is a SAS 2 storage controller rated at 600 MBps. It is supplied as a connectivity kit for NEO 2000E, 200s, 400s, 4100E, 600s, and 800s tape libraries. A 10 ft SAS cable is included in the package.

Suits NEO Library Expansion, Not Standalone Servers

This controller suits administrators adding SAS connectivity to compatible NEO series libraries. It does not suit builders needing a general-purpose RAID or HBA card for standard servers. Buyers without a supported NEO library should look elsewhere.

600 MBps Throughput With Single Port Headroom

The SAS 2 interface delivers up to 600 MBps across one 6Gb/s port. That bandwidth handles typical library backup and archive streams. Throughput runs out when multiple concurrent jobs exceed the single link capacity.

Questions about this item

Which Overland NEO library must I already own for the OV-SAS901711 kit to connect?

The kit is designed for NEO 2000E, 200s, 400s, 4100E, 600s and 800s libraries, so one of those must be present.

Will the included 10 ft SAS cable reach an older HBA that only supports 3 Gb/s SAS?

The controller uses a SAS 2 interface at 600 MBps; it will negotiate down to 3 Gb/s if the host adapter requires it.

How can I confirm the 600 MBps link is active after installing the controller and cable?

Check the NEO library management console or host OS device list for a SAS 6Gb/s link status on the new controller port.
