14-Port Thunderbolt Dock

The OWC 14-Port Thunderbolt Dock provides 14 ports from a single Thunderbolt 40 Gb/s host connection. It delivers up to 85W of power to charge a connected notebook. The dock includes two Thunderbolt 40 Gb/s USB-C ports, five USB 3.2 Type-A ports, one USB 3.2 10 Gb/s Type-C port, Mini DisplayPort 1.2, Gigabit Ethernet, S/PDIF digital audio, a 3.5 mm combo jack, and SD 4.0 UHS-II card slots.

Replaces multiple adapters and hubs

This dock consolidates separate video adapters, card readers, audio interfaces, and USB hubs into one device. The jump is worth it when a notebook has limited ports but needs to drive two 4K displays at 60Hz or a single 5K display at 60Hz while charging at 85W. It is not for users who only need a single extra USB port or basic HDMI output without Thunderbolt host support.

Limited by Thunderbolt 40 Gb/s host bandwidth

All 14 ports share the 40 Gb/s upstream link to the host, so simultaneous high-speed transfers on multiple 10 Gb/s or 5 Gb/s ports will contend for that bandwidth. Display output depends on the host Thunderbolt implementation and cable quality; the Mini DisplayPort 1.2 port is capped at 4K 60Hz. The dock cannot exceed the host's Thunderbolt 3 or 4 controller capabilities.

Questions about this item

Does the 14-port Thunderbolt dock need external power or does it run from the host port?

The dock includes its own power supply to deliver up to 85W charging through the host Thunderbolt 40 Gb/s USB-C connection.

Which cable do I plug into my laptop to get 40 Gb/s and 85W charging at the same time?

Use the included Thunderbolt cable in the host Thunderbolt 3/4 USB-C port; it carries both 40 Gb/s data and up to 85W power.

Will the SD 4.0 UHS-II card reader slot wear out, and can I replace just that module?

The SD 4.0 UHS-II and microSD slots are built into the dock chassis and are not user-replaceable modules.
