Fully rugged convertible laptop

The Panasonic Toughbook CF-19 is a 10.1-inch convertible laptop built to MIL-STD-810G and IP65 standards. It features a magnesium alloy case rated for six-foot drops and a sunlight-viewable XGA LED display reaching 6000 nit brightness. Integrated GOBI broadband with 4G LTE and GPS provides connectivity in remote areas.

Field workers versus office users

This device suits field technicians, emergency responders and survey crews who need a lightweight tablet-laptop hybrid with a digitizer pen for outdoor data capture. Buyers who require multi-core processing performance, modern wireless standards or a touchscreen interface should evaluate other rugged platforms.

Single-core 1.2GHz processor

The Intel Core i5 runs at 1.20GHz with a single processing core, limiting throughput for concurrent workloads. This clock speed determines whether the unit can handle your specific legacy applications or real-time data logging tasks in the field.

Questions about this item

What does the Gigabit LAN port's 1000Mbps rating cap in practice?

The 10/100/1000Mbps LAN tops out at 1000 megabits per second for wired network throughput.

What does the convertible chassis need to swivel between laptop and tablet modes?

A magnesium alloy case with a rotating hinge lets the 10.1-inch display pivot flat for tablet use.

How is the digitizer pen installed, and what step is often missed?

The pen works immediately with the digitizer layer; no driver install is needed, but calibration in Windows 8 Pro 32-bit is required for accurate input.
