Panasonic Leica DG 25-50mm f/1.7 Lens

This Panasonic Leica DG Vario-Summilux 25-50mm f/1.7 lens is a bright zoom for Micro Four Thirds cameras. It covers a 50-100mm equivalent focal range with a constant f/1.7 aperture. The bundle adds Tiffen 77mm UV and CPL filters plus a cleaning kit for immediate use.

Suits MFT shooters needing fast zoom

Photographers and videographers using Micro Four Thirds bodies gain a versatile 25-50mm range with consistent f/1.7 brightness for low light and shallow depth of field. Buyers with full-frame or APS-C mounts cannot attach this lens natively. Users needing wider angles or longer telephoto reach should look at different focal lengths.

Constant f/1.7 aperture across 25-50mm zoom

The defining specification is the constant f/1.7 maximum aperture maintained throughout the entire 25-50mm zoom range. This provides consistent exposure and depth-of-field control from wide to telephoto ends. The optical design uses 17 elements in 12 groups including aspherical and ED glass to support this performance.

Questions about this item

How well does the f/1.7 aperture hold up across the full 25-50mm zoom range?

The lens maintains a constant f/1.7 aperture from 25 mm to 50 mm, so exposure and depth of field stay consistent throughout the zoom.

Does the lens get hot or draw more power during long video takes?

It is a passive optical lens with no internal motors or electronics that generate heat, so temperature and power draw are not concerns.

Which camera mount is required to use this lens?

A Micro Four Thirds mount camera is required; the lens is designed exclusively for that system.
