Leica DG Summilux 25mm F1.4 II ASPH

This Panasonic prime lens is built for the Micro Four Thirds mirrorless system. It carries Leica DG certification, meaning its optical design meets strict quality standards set by Leica Camera AG. The 25mm focal length provides a 50mm field of view in 35mm equivalent terms, making it a versatile standard prime for everyday photography.

For low-light and creative portrait work

The fast F1.4 maximum aperture allows shooting in dim conditions while delivering shallow depth of field with smooth background rendering. Its dust and splash-resistant construction suits photographers working outdoors or in unpredictable weather. Buyers who need zoom flexibility or a wider angle of view for interiors and landscapes should look at alternative lenses.

46mm filter thread for creative control

A 46mm front thread accepts polarising, neutral density and protective filters directly. The optical formula uses nine elements in seven groups, including two aspherical lenses and one Ultra High Refractive index element, to maintain sharpness from centre to corner at full aperture. Panasonic's Nano Surface Coating suppresses ghosting and flare when shooting into light sources.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 25mm F1.4 II ASPH or look for a different focal length for Micro Four Thirds?

This lens gives a 50mm equivalent field of view on Micro Four Thirds, making it a classic normal prime for everyday shooting.

What does the F1.4 aperture actually deliver on a Micro Four Thirds body?

F1.4 provides shallow depth of field for subject separation and strong low-light capability with the 25mm focal length.

Does the 46mm filter thread limit which polarizers or ND filters I can use?

The 46mm thread accepts standard screw-in filters, so any 46mm polarizer or ND will fit directly.
