Ultra-wide 18 mm equivalent

The Panasonic Lumix G Leica DG Summilux 9 mm f/1.7 is a new Micro Four Thirds prime lens built for photographers and videographers who need an expansive 100° angle of view. Its 12 elements in 9 groups include 2 aspherical, 2 ED and 1 UHR lens to minimise distortion and maximise sharpness across the frame. Dust and splash resistance allows reliable use from -10 °C to 40 °C.

Fast f/1.7 aperture

The f/1.7 maximum aperture combined with a 7-blade circular diaphragm delivers shallow depth of field and smooth background separation for both stills and video. Micro-step aperture control provides silent, stepless exposure transitions during recording. A focus-breathing suppression mechanism keeps the angle of view stable when pulling focus.

Suits hybrid shooters needing wide, fast glass

This lens suits creators who want a single ultra-wide prime for low-light interiors, landscapes and video work with precise manual focus control via linear or non-linear focus-ring response. Buyers who need zoom flexibility or longer focal lengths should look at alternative optics.

Questions about this item

How does the 100° angle of view translate on a Micro Four Thirds body?

It gives an ultra-wide 18mm equivalent field of view, covering expansive landscapes or tight interiors in a single frame.

What focus speed does the Micro Four Thirds mount allow with this lens?

The mount communicates with the camera at up to 240 fps, delivering fast and precise contrast AF for both stills and video.

What filter thread size does the 9mm f/1.7 lens need?

The lens takes a 10 mm filter thread, so standard 10 mm filters and caps fit directly on the front element.
