Rugged 14 inch notebook for field work

The Panasonic Toughbook FZ-55 is a new 14.0 inch business laptop built for demanding environments. It runs an 11th Gen Intel Core i5-1145G7 quad-core processor at 2.60 GHz with Turbo Boost up to 4.40 GHz. The system includes 16GB DDR4 3200 MHz memory and a 256GB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD. Windows 11 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed.

HD anti-glare display and core I/O limits

The 14 inch LED IPS panel shows 1366 x 768 resolution with anti-glare and day/night modes. Integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics drive the internal screen and external output through a single HDMI port. Two USB 3.2 ports and one RJ-45 Gigabit Ethernet jack handle wired peripherals and networks. A USB-C connection is also present for additional accessories.

256 GB SSD and 16 GB RAM headroom

The 256GB NVMe solid-state drive provides fast boot and application load times for typical business workloads. Sixteen gigabytes of DDR4 memory keeps multiple office programs and browser tabs responsive. Workers needing larger local databases or heavy media libraries will find the storage ceiling restrictive. The integrated graphics cannot support CAD rendering or modern gaming workloads.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 16 GB DDR4 3200 MHz option or is a smaller memory size available?

This unit ships with 16 GB DDR4 3200 MHz soldered on board; no smaller memory configuration is offered for this model.

What does the 4.40 GHz turbo figure mean for everyday workloads?

The Core i5-1145G7 can boost a single core to 4.40 GHz for short bursts, speeding up responsive tasks such as web browsing and document editing.

Which USB standard do the two USB 3.2 ports actually run at?

Both ports operate at USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5 Gbps), so external SSDs and docks are limited to that bandwidth.
