Rugged 14" touchscreen laptop for field

The Panasonic Toughbook FZ-55 MK2 is a fully rugged Windows 11 Pro laptop built for mobile workers who operate in harsh environments. Its 14.0 inch Full HD touchscreen supports gloved and wet-finger input. A 4-core Intel Core i5-1145G7 processor runs at 2.6 GHz with a 4.4 GHz turbo boost alongside 16 GB of memory and a 256 GB SSD.

Fanless thermal design with low power draw

Integrated graphics and the efficient 11th Gen processor keep heat output modest during typical office and field workloads. The chassis dissipates heat passively so there is no fan noise to disturb quiet sites or vehicle cabins. Power consumption stays low, extending battery runtime on a single charge.

Modular expansion bay frees up desk space

A user-accessible expansion bay accepts optional modules such as a second battery, dedicated GPU, or additional ports, letting the laptop replace separate peripherals. Built-in 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth handle wireless connectivity without dongles. The integrated webcam and touchpad mean no extra accessories are required for video calls or navigation.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 256GB SSD in the FZ-55 MK2, and which step do people get wrong?

The 256GB SSD ships already installed in the FZ-55 MK2; the common mistake is trying to open the chassis to add a drive that is already present.

What maintenance or replacement will the 16GB memory need later?

The 16GB memory is soldered to the mainboard, so it cannot be upgraded or replaced separately; only a full board service would change it.

What limit shows up first on the Core i5-1145G7 during sustained loads?

The integrated graphics share the 16GB system memory, so heavy graphical work hits the memory bandwidth ceiling before the 4.4 GHz turbo can be sustained.
