Cable tie for 2-inch bundles

The Panduit BT2M-M cable tie is a miniature nylon 6/6 fastener designed to secure wire bundles up to 2 inches in diameter. Its 7.9-inch actual length and 18-pound tensile strength suit low-profile routing in electrical panels, conduit runs and general-purpose cable management where space is tight.

Temperature and plenum limits

The tie operates from -76 degrees to 185 degrees Fahrenheit and carries a UL Type 2 plenum rating with low-smoke, halogen-free construction. It is not rated for outdoor exposure, flame-retardant applications or metal-detectable environments, so installers must verify the local code requirements before use.

Hand installation with stainless barb

Each strap locks with an internal stainless steel barb that engages the nylon teeth when pulled tight by hand or with a standard tensioning tool. The 0.05-inch thickness and 0.09-inch width leave little margin for over-tensioning, so excessive force can strip the teeth or fracture the strap, requiring a replacement tie.

Questions about this item

Which cable tie length should I choose for a 2-inch bundle?

The 7.9 in actual length with a nominal max bundle diameter of 2 in fits that size directly.

What does the 18 lb tensile strength mean when the tie is installed?

It indicates the tie can hold up to 18 lb of pulling force before the nylon 6/6 strap or the stainless steel barb fails.

How does the UL Type 2 rating affect where I can run these ties?

UL Type 2 plus plenum rating means the tie is approved for use in air-handling spaces and meets low-smoke, halogen-free requirements.
