Heavy-duty nylon cable tie secures bundles up to five inches with a 120 lb tensile strength
The Panduit BT5LH-L is a standard cable tie built for heavy-duty bundling tasks. Its 120 lb tensile strength and 18.1 in actual length suit installers who need a single, robust strap for large cable groups. The natural Nylon 6/6 construction meets UL Type 2 requirements for general-purpose fastening.
Operating temperature spans -76 to 185 degrees F, so the tie remains reliable in cold stores and hot equipment bays. Halogen-free, low-smoke nylon reduces toxic emissions if exposed to fire, while the stainless steel barb lock resists vibration without adding metal detectability. Flame retardant rating is not claimed.
Nominal maximum bundle diameter is 5 in, which decides whether the strap can close around your cable bundle. Measure the bundle circumference before ordering; if the diameter exceeds this limit the tie will not lock. The 0.27 in width and 0.07 in thickness give a firm grip within that range.

Wrap the 18.1 in strap around the bundle, insert the tail through the head, and pull tight so the stainless steel barb locks into the nylon teeth; the step often missed is verifying the barb has fully engaged before releasing tension.
Inspect the nylon 6/6 body for embrittlement or UV discoloration after prolonged exposure to temperatures near 185 °F or below -76 °F; replace any tie that shows cracking or a loose barb.
The 120 lb tensile strength is the first limit; if the applied load exceeds this figure the nylon strap or the stainless steel barb can yield, causing the tie to fail.
