Product identity

This is a two-disc DVD and Blu-ray set containing Steven Spielberg's War of the Worlds starring Tom Cruise. It presents the 117-minute theatrical film in widescreen format with an English soundtrack. The package suits viewers who want the movie on physical media in both standard and high-definition formats.

Format upgrade context

The Blu-ray disc provides a higher-resolution presentation than the included DVD for owners of compatible players and HD displays. Buyers still watching exclusively on standard-definition equipment will not see a picture-quality improvement from the Blu-ray disc. The second disc ensures playback compatibility across older and newer hardware.

Setup verification

Confirm your player supports both DVD and Blu-ray playback to use both discs. Verify that your display and audio connections can pass a high-definition signal if you intend to watch the Blu-ray version. The set requires a Blu-ray-capable drive for the high-definition disc and a DVD drive for the standard-definition disc.
