18" Low Rider RB replacement basket

The Peavey 18" Low Rider RB replacement basket is a recone kit built for Peavey 18-inch Low Rider series drivers. It restores the moving assembly of a blown or fatigued woofer without replacing the entire frame. Technicians and venue operators use it to return cabinets to service quickly.

Practical limits of a recone kit

A replacement basket only addresses the cone, voice coil, spider and surround. It does not repair a damaged magnet structure, bent frame or stripped mounting holes. The cabinet must still provide the correct internal volume and port tuning for the original driver specifications. Misaligned gaps or foreign debris in the gap will cause the new coil to rub and fail again.

Upgrades from a full driver swap

Swapping only the basket costs less than buying a complete new 18-inch woofer and avoids the labour of remounting the heavy magnet assembly. The jump is worth it when the magnet and frame are intact and the cabinet design matches the original Low Rider parameters. It is not for cabinets that need a different Thiele-Small profile or for users who want a modern neodymium motor.
