Alloy Steel Grade 100 Chain

This Peerless 5510305 chain is made from alloy steel and rated to Grade 100 for overhead lifting. It suits rigging professionals who need a short, high-strength length for sling assemblies or load securement. The black Thermadep finish adds corrosion resistance in industrial environments. Buyers needing longer continuous runs or a different grade should select another product.

5700 lb Working Load Limit

The decisive specification is the 5700 lb working load limit at Grade 100, which determines whether the chain matches the load calculation for a given lift. Trade size is 5/16 in with a material thickness of 21/64 in. Each foot contains 12 welded straight links measuring 1 in inside length by 1/2 in inside width. The total supplied length is 5 ft.

Ready-to-Use Welded Links

The chain arrives as a finished 5 ft assembly of welded straight links, so no cutting or coupling is required unless the application demands a different length. No hook is included; compatible fittings must accept 5/16 in thickness. The main installation error is exceeding the 5700 lb limit or using mismatched hardware that reduces the assembly rating.

Questions about this item

What does the 5700 lb working load limit mean when the chain is rigged in a straight lift?

It means the chain is rated to carry 5700 lb in a direct vertical pull with no angle on the legs.

How does Grade 100 alloy steel affect the chain's performance compared with lower grades?

Grade 100 alloy steel provides a higher strength-to-weight ratio so the 5/16 in trade size reaches 5700 lb WLL with less material thickness.

What are the physical dimensions I need to check for fit with my hooks or shackles?

Each link has a 1 in inside length and 1/2 in inside width with a 21/64 in material thickness.
