Standard zoom for APS-C SLRs

The HD Pentax-DA 16-50mm f/2.8 ED PLM AW is a constant-aperture standard zoom built for Pentax APS-C digital SLR cameras. It covers a 16-50mm focal range with a maximum aperture of f/2.8 across the zoom. The bundle adds a 77mm filter kit, cleaning kit, cleaning cloth, lens cleaner, hood PH-RBN77, cap O-LC77 and case S120-150. It suits photographers wanting one weather-resistant lens for everyday and low-light work.

Check mount and filter thread

Verify your camera uses the Pentax K mount for APS-C bodies before ordering. The lens takes 77mm filters, so any existing screw-in filters must match that diameter. The PLM autofocus motor and electromagnetic diaphragm require a compatible body for full AF speed and exposure control; older bodies may not support all functions. Ensure you have space for the included hood and case in your bag.

Replaces variable-aperture kit zooms

This lens upgrades from slower variable-aperture zooms that dim at the long end, giving constant f/2.8 brightness throughout the 16-50mm range. The jump is worth it when you need reliable low-light exposure, consistent depth-of-field control and quieter PLM focusing for video. It is not for shooters who need wider than 16mm, longer than 50mm or full-frame coverage.
