Network module for managed fibre links

The Perle CM-110-M1SC2U is a managed media converter module that bridges 10/100Base-TX copper and 100Base-BX fibre. It fits into a compatible Perle chassis to extend Ethernet segments across single-mode fibre in campus or enterprise networks.

Wavelength pairing decides compatibility

The module uses 100Base-BX optics, which transmit and receive on different wavelengths over a single strand. The link partner must use the complementary wavelength pair, otherwise the link will not come up.

Slide-in installation with management caveats

The card slides into a powered Perle chassis and is recognised immediately by the management software. Configuration changes require access to the chassis manager; forgetting to save the running configuration is the most common cause of lost settings after a reboot.

Questions about this item

What does the 10/100Base-TX rate mean once the module is installed?

The copper port will negotiate at either 10 Mbps or 100 Mbps full duplex, matching the speed of the connected switch or endpoint.

What fibre standard does the 100Base-BX interface use and what distance does it support?

100Base-BX uses a single-strand bidirectional wavelength pair; the exact reach depends on the paired module and fibre type.

What chassis or slot does the CM-110-M1SC2U require for mounting?

It is a managed module designed for Perle Media Converter chassis; it occupies one module slot and draws power from the chassis backplane.
