Single-fibre 100 Mbps transceiver

The Perle S-100-S1ST20D converts 10/100Base-T copper links to 100Base-BX-D single-strand fibre. It targets network teams extending LAN segments beyond copper distance limits without laying multi-fibre cable. The module includes a regulated DC adapter that accepts 100-240v AC input for flexible site power.

Passive thermal design

No fan or active cooling is present, so the unit runs silently in rack, wall-mount or desktop locations. Power draw stays low because the circuitry only drives 100 Mbps bidirectional optics and the onboard voltage regulation. Heat dissipates through the metal enclosure during continuous operation.

Replaces dual-fibre 100 Mbps links

Sites currently using two-fibre 100Base-FX patches can reclaim one strand per link by deploying this BX-D module paired with its BX-U counterpart. The upgrade is worthwhile when fibre cores are scarce or conduit space is full. It does not serve links that require gigabit or ten-gigabit throughput.
