Perle Fast Ethernet Media Converter

The Perle SMI-100-M1SC2U converts 10/100Base-TX copper signals to 100Base-BX single-fibre links. It is an IP managed device supplied new with a universal AC/DC adapter for network infrastructure upgrades.

Network engineers extending legacy copper runs

Suits teams that need managed fibre conversion for existing Fast Ethernet equipment. Not for installers who require Gigabit or 10 Gigabit throughput, PoE pass-through, or unmanaged plug-and-play operation.

100Base-BX single-strand fibre interface

The converter uses a single optical strand for bidirectional 100 Mbps transmission. Verify that your patch cables and patch panels match the BX wavelength pair before ordering.

Questions about this item

How do I confirm the SMI-100-M1SC2U is converting 10/100Base-TX to 100Base-BX correctly after installation?

Check the front-panel LEDs for power, copper link at 10 or 100 Mbps and fibre link status; then use the IP management interface to verify port statistics and error counters.

What does the package contain and what must I source separately for the SMI-100-M1SC2U?

The box holds the SMI-100-M1SC2U media converter and a universal AC/DC adapter; you must obtain an SC single-mode fibre patch cord and a copper patch cable.

Which SMI-100-M1SC2U variant should I select for a 100Base-BX single-fibre link?

The SMI-100-M1SC2U model supports 100Base-BX over a single SC single-mode fibre; choose this version when you need IP-managed Fast Ethernet conversion on one fibre strand.
