It is designed for network engineers extending Ethernet over single-strand fibre where only 100 Mbps throughput is required. The package includes the transceiver and a 100-240v AC regulated DC adapter for standalone power.

Passive thermal design with external adapter

The transceiver operates without an internal fan, relying on passive cooling for silent operation in racks or enclosures. Power is supplied by the included AC adapter, so the module draws no PoE budget from the switch. Normal use produces no audible noise and minimal heat.

Single-strand 100Base-BX-D wavelength constraint

This module uses a single LC fibre strand with 100Base-BX-D optics, so the link partner must run the complementary BX-U wavelength. It will not interoperate with standard dual-strand 100Base-FX or BX modules using different wavelengths.
