Portable CD Boombox with USB

The Philips Black Boombox plays CD, MP3-CD and CD-R/RW discs while adding USB direct playback for digital files. An integrated FM tuner with digital tuning rounds out the sources. It runs from mains power or C-size batteries for indoor and outdoor use.

Disc and USB playback limits

The mechanism reads standard compact discs and MP3 data discs but cannot handle DVD media or streaming services. USB playback is limited to the file formats the onboard decoder supports. No Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or auxiliary input is mentioned in the specifications.

Battery-powered portability

Mains or C-cell battery operation lets the unit work away from sockets, making it the deciding factor for buyers who need a self-powered CD and radio system. Users requiring rechargeable built-in batteries or app control should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the AC adapter or C-size batteries for this boombox?

Use the AC cable at home for continuous playback; switch to C-size batteries when you need portable power away from a mains socket.

What does Dynamic Bass Boost do to the sound from the stereo speakers?

It emphasises low frequencies so bass stays present and clear even at lower volume levels.

What does USB Direct support on this model?

It lets you plug in a USB flash drive and play MP3 files straight from the stick without a computer.
