Stereo audio add-on for Raspberry Pi Pico with PCM5100A DAC, PAM8908JER headphone amplifier, 3.5mm line-out and headphone jacks, and selectable gain
This Pimoroni development board adds high-quality stereo audio to a Raspberry Pi Pico. It integrates a PCM5100A DAC and a PAM8908JER headphone amplifier on a fully assembled PCB with pre-soldered female headers. Makers and experimenters can output 32-bit, 384 kHz audio through either a 3.5 mm line-out or headphone jack.
Suits anyone building Pico-based audio players, synthesisers or voice projects that need both line-level and amplified headphone outputs with selectable gain. Not for users who require microphone input, digital audio interfaces like I2S input, or a standalone module that works without a Raspberry Pi Pico host.
The PCM5100A DAC delivers up to 32-bit resolution at 384 kHz sample rate, driving both the line-out and headphone sockets. This single figure determines whether the board meets your project’s fidelity and bandwidth requirements.

No published specifications for this item yet.
The board is designed for the Raspberry Pi Pico and includes pre-soldered female headers that plug directly onto the Pico's GPIO pins.
The line out jack provides a line-level signal intended for an external amplifier or powered speakers; it will not drive passive speakers on its own.
Plug headphones into the 3.5mm headphone jack, set the gain switch to low or high, and play a test tone; audible output confirms the DAC and PAM8908 amplifier are working.
