High-Voltage Differential Probe for Oscilloscopes

The PT-5215 is a new active differential probe designed for engineers and technicians who need to measure high-voltage signals safely with a standard oscilloscope. It converts any two-point signal into a ground-referenced output, making it suitable for motor drives, power supplies and other floating circuits where ground clips cannot be used. The probe ships with a BNC cable, hook tips, alligator clips and an adapter so it is ready for immediate bench use.

15 kV Peak-to-Peak at 1000× Attenuation

The single specification that determines suitability is the maximum differential test voltage of 15 kV peak-to-peak when the 1000× attenuation setting is selected, with a 35 MHz bandwidth at that ratio. At 100× attenuation the probe handles 1.5 kV peak-to-peak and extends bandwidth to 25 MHz, while accuracy remains ±2 % across both ranges. Input impedance is 50 MΩ in parallel with 1.3 pF differentially and 25 MΩ with 2.6 pF single-ended to ground, and common-mode rejection reaches 80 dB at 60 Hz.

Bundled Accessories Enable Direct Connection

The included BNC cable connects directly to any oscilloscope with a 1 MΩ input, eliminating the need for extra adapters. Two probe hooks and two alligator clips provide secure attachment to test points or component leads in tight motor-drive layouts. A printed manual covers the 100× and 1000× switching procedure and safety limits, so users can configure the probe correctly without guesswork.
