10/100Base-TX to 100Base-FX SFP media converter

The PLANET FT-905A converts a 10/100Base-TX copper link to a 100Base-FX fibre link using an SFP module with an LC connector. It is designed for ISPs, enterprises and homes that need to extend Ethernet over single-mode fibre up to 60 km. The unit can operate as a stand-alone device or slide into a compatible PLANET media converter chassis. Web-based management provides flow control, QoS and bandwidth control for remote link monitoring.

Metal enclosure with auto-negotiating RJ-45 and LC

The converter is housed in a compact metal case measuring 0.98" x 3.66" x 2.72". A single RJ-45 port supports auto-negotiation and auto-MDI/MDI-X for plug-and-play copper connectivity. The LC SFP slot accepts standard SFP transceivers for the fibre uplink. Front-panel LEDs show power, twisted-pair link, activity, duplex and speed, plus fibre link, activity and duplex status. An external 5 V / 2 A power adapter supplies up to 5.5 W maximum consumption.

60 km reach over single-mode fibre with LC connector

The fibre interface is specified for a 60 km transmission distance using single-mode fibre and an LC connector. This reach determines whether the converter suits a given link; shorter or longer spans require different optics. Operating temperature ranges from 0 to 50 °C with 10-90 % non-condensing humidity. The device complies with IEEE 802.3, 802.3u, 802.3x and 802.1p standards for basic Ethernet, flow control and class-of-service tagging.
