Gigabit Ethernet over VDSL2 Converter

The PLANET VC-231G bridges a 10/100/1000BASE-TX LAN port to a VDSL2 line using ITU-T G.993.5 G.vectoring and G.INP. It targets installers who need to extend Ethernet over existing copper telephone wiring without new cabling. The module fits into a compatible PLANET chassis and provides a single RJ11 connector for the VDSL link.

200/160 Mbps symmetric bandwidth at 300 m

At short range the converter delivers up to 200 Mbps downstream and 160 Mbps upstream with an 8 dB SNR margin. Performance drops to 20 Mbps downstream and 12 Mbps upstream at 1.4 km. DMT-based coding and selectable target band plan with SNR margin let the installer tune the link for line conditions. CO/CPE mode is chosen by a DIP switch.

Built-in POST splitter and flow control

A POST splitter is integrated so voice and data share the same pair without an external filter. The Ethernet port supports IEEE 802.3x full-duplex pause frames and half-duplex back-pressure flow control. No separate power adapter or management software is included; the module draws power from the host chassis.
