Industrial PoE+ wall-mount switch

The PLANET WGS-5225-8P2S is a managed Layer 2+ switch designed for wall mounting in industrial environments. It provides eight Gigabit RJ45 ports with IEEE 802.3at PoE+ injection and two SFP slots for fibre uplinks. The unit operates on dual 48 to 56V DC input, with greater than 51V DC recommended for full PoE+ output. It suits installers deploying IP cameras, wireless access points or VoIP phones where AC power is unavailable.

Dual DC input and SFP flexibility

Dual 48 to 56V DC power inputs deliver redundancy for critical infrastructure. The two 100/1000BASE-X SFP slots accept mini-GBIC modules with auto detection, allowing fibre links at 100Mbps or 1Gbps without fixed transceivers. IEEE 802.3ad LACP trunking, VLAN tagging, QoS, port mirroring, SNMP and ITU-T G.8032 ERPS ring protection are supported for managed network control. LEDs show system power, ring status and per-port link, activity and PoE-in-use states.

251 watt PoE budget decides deployment

Maximum power draw reaches 251 watts with full PoE loading, while idle consumption is 7.2 watts. The total PoE budget therefore determines how many Class 4 devices can be powered simultaneously across the eight ports. Buyers needing more than eight powered endpoints or a higher aggregate PoE budget must select a larger switch. The compact 5.51 by 7.09 by 0.96 inch enclosure fits tight cabinets but offers no rack-mount ears.

Questions about this item

Will the dual 48-56V DC power inputs need servicing or replacement over time?

The dual 48-56V DC inputs are fixed terminals; no internal power-supply module is present to service or replace.

What limits the SFP uplink throughput when the switch runs at full 251-watt PoE load?

Each SFP slot is fixed at 100/1000BASE-X, so uplink speed caps at 1 Gbps regardless of PoE load.

How much heat does the unit produce when all eight PoE+ ports are fully loaded?

At full PoE loading the switch draws 251 watts and emits 861.2 BTU per hour.
