Airless food storage

The Planetary Design canister uses a patented inner lid that forces air out when pressed down, creating an airless environment rather than a simple airtight seal. A two-way valve locks automatically to prevent oxygen exchange until the handle is lifted again. The design preserves freshness and flavour for coffee beans, tea, flour, sugar, nuts, herbs and other dry goods. A distinctive swoosh sound confirms the air has been expelled.

Long-term freshness retention

Under continuous storage the inner lid maintains its seal without relying on a rubber gasket that can degrade. The plunger mechanism keeps internal air volume minimal even as contents are used, slowing oxidation and moisture uptake over weeks or months. The glazed ceramic body resists staining and does not absorb odours, so flavour profiles remain clean between refills. Hand-washing preserves the finish and the bamboo lid condition.

Upgrade from basic jars

This replaces standard screw-top jars, plastic tubs or bags that trap air inside and allow gradual staling. The jump is worth it when you want whole-bean coffee or loose-leaf tea to stay vibrant for longer periods without freezing. It is not for buyers who need freezer-safe containers or dishwasher-safe convenience.

Questions about this item

Does the patented inner lid make any sound when it removes air during daily use?

Yes, the inner lid creates a swoosh sound as it forces excess air out, confirming the airless seal is working each time you close it.

What cleaning tools or products do I need to maintain the canister and its bamboo lid?

Hand-wash only; the glass body and inner lid need gentle washing, and the bamboo top lid should be polished occasionally with olive oil.

Will the 250 g capacity hold the same amount of coffee beans I currently keep in a standard half-pound bag?

The canister holds approximately 250 grams of whole bean coffee, matching a typical half-pound bag, so your existing supply will fit.
