Clear Double-Ended Halogen Lamp

The Platinum EHM halogen bulb delivers 6000 lumens at 3000K from a 300W double-ended envelope. It fits fixtures that accept an R7s recessed single contact base and runs on 120V mains power. The clear finish suits ceiling fixtures, track lighting and showcase displays in residential and commercial settings. Its colour rendering index reaches 100 for accurate colour appearance.

Straightforward R7s Base Installation

Insert each end of the 118mm lamp into the spring-loaded R7s sockets until the contacts seat firmly. Handle the quartz envelope with a clean cloth or gloves to avoid contaminating the surface with skin oils. Oil residues create hot spots that can lead to premature failure or envelope rupture. Ensure the fixture is rated for 300W and switched off before fitting the lamp.

Halogen Technology Constraints

The rated life is 2000 hours, which is shorter than many LED alternatives and requires more frequent replacement in high-use locations. Operating at 300W produces significant heat, so the fixture must provide adequate ventilation and keep combustible materials clear. The 120V rating limits use to compatible mains supplies without a step-down transformer. Dimming is possible with suitable leading-edge dimmers, but the lamp is not designed for low-voltage or electronic ballast systems.
