Cable boots for RJ45 connectors

Platinum Tools 105104 boots fit RJ45 plugs on Cat5e, Cat6 and Cat6A patch cords. Each boot slides over the connector to cover the release tab and the external ground on shielded plugs. A pack contains 100 black boots made from PVC. They accept cables with an outside diameter from .217 to .344 inches.

Protects tabs and eases cable management

Installers who want to stop broken locking tabs and reduce strain on terminated cables will find these useful. The snagless profile helps prevent cords from catching on each other in dense patch panels. Buyers who need boots for a different cable diameter or a colour-coding scheme other than black should look at other options.

Maximum cable OD of .344 inches

The decisive specification is the cable outside-diameter range of .217 to .344 inches. If your patch-cord jacket falls outside this window the boot will not seat correctly and the connector will not be protected.

Questions about this item

What cable diameter range do these 8.0 mm boots accept?

They fit cables with an outside diameter from .217 to .344 inches, covering typical Cat5e, Cat6 and Cat6A patch cords.

Will the boots interfere with the release tab on my existing RJ45 plugs?

The snagless design covers the external ground on shielded connectors and prevents the locking tab from catching or breaking during insertion and removal.

How can I confirm the boots are seated correctly after installation?

Each boot should slide fully over the plug body, the strain-relief flange should rest against the cable jacket, and the release tab must move freely without binding.
