Thunderbolt 3 40Gbps cable
This 0.8 metre Thunderbolt 3 cable delivers 40Gbps data transfer between certified hosts and devices. It supports up to 100W Power Delivery at 20V and 5A for charging laptops and powering peripherals. The USB-C connectors are compatible with Thunderbolt 3 and 4 ports as well as USB 3.1 Gen 2 devices.
Passive length and speed limits
At 0.8 metres the cable remains passive while sustaining the full 40Gbps Thunderbolt rate. Longer passive cables drop to 20Gbps, so this length is the practical maximum for peak throughput without active electronics. USB 3.1 Gen 2 connections operate at 10Gbps over the same cable.
Upgrades standard USB-C cables
It replaces basic USB-C cables that only reach 5Gbps or 10Gbps and cannot drive dual 4K 60Hz or single 5K 60Hz displays. The jump is worth it when you need Thunderbolt docking, eGPU enclosures or daisy-chaining up to six devices. It will not work with Quick Charge 3.0 or non-compliant proprietary charging.
