PNY GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER XLR8 8GB

The PNY GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER XLR8 Gaming OC 3F is a graphics card built for 1440p and 4K gaming. It uses the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 20 Series GPU with 8GB GDDR6 memory on a 256-bit bus. The card connects via PCI Express x16 3.0 and outputs to one HDMI 1.4 and three DisplayPort connectors. It targets enthusiasts who need high frame rates in modern titles.

Thermals noise and 250W power draw

The card uses a triple-fan active cooler in a dual-slot design to manage its 250W typical power consumption. It requires one 6-pin and one 8-pin supplementary power connector and a minimum 650W system power supply. The GPU base clock is 1650 MHz with a boost clock of 1815 MHz. Memory runs at 15.5 Gbits for 496 GB/s bandwidth, keeping temperatures controlled under load.

Step up from 2080-class cards

Moving to this RTX 2080 SUPER from an earlier RTX 2080 adds higher clocks and faster memory for measurable gains at 1440p and 4K. The 8GB GDDR6 buffer and 496 GB/s bandwidth handle high-resolution textures and maximum resolution of 7680 x 4320 pixels. The upgrade is worth it when your current card limits frame rates in DirectX 12.0 or OpenGL 4.5 workloads.

Questions about this item

How do I install the dual 6-pin and 8-pin power connectors on the RTX 2080 SUPER and what step is often missed?

Connect both the 6-pin and 8-pin cables from the PSU firmly until they click; the step often missed is ensuring the 650 W minimum supply is met and both cables come from separate rails if possible.

What maintenance will the triple-fan cooler need over time?

Dust the three fans and heatsink fins every few months with compressed air; the active cooling design has no user-serviceable parts beyond cleaning, and thermal paste replacement is not routine.

At sustained load what limit appears first on this 250 W card?

The 250 W thermal design power ceiling is reached first; the boost clock of 1815 MHz will throttle once the cooling assembly saturates under continuous 250 W dissipation.
