Will this card work in my older motherboard that only has a PCI Express 2.0 x16 slot?

Yes, the PCI Express 3.0 x16 interface is backward compatible with 2.0 slots, though bandwidth will be limited to 2.0 speeds.

How can I verify the 1.05 GHz core clock and 7010 MHz memory clock are active after installing drivers?

Open GPU-Z or NVIDIA Control Panel and check the clock speeds under load; they should report 1.05 GHz core and 7010 MHz memory when the 3D performance state is engaged.
