Polaroid PIXPRO A-501-6Pink for ages 3-12

The Polaroid PIXPRO A-501-6Pink is a compact digital camera built for children aged three to twelve. It combines a 48 megapixel CMOS sensor with 1080P video recording in a shockproof silicone case that includes a lanyard. Dual front and rear lenses allow both regular photos and selfies, while simple controls suit small hands.

Upgrade from basic toy cameras

This model replaces simpler VGA or 5 megapixel toy cameras that lack video capability and zoom. The jump is worth it when a child wants 48 megapixel stills, 1080P video, 2.8X optical zoom and 16X digital zoom in one device. Built-in puzzle games, music playback, 30 cartoon frames and six colour filters add play value beyond basic photography.

Steady shooting with optical stabilization

Optical image stabilization reduces blur during handheld use by active children. Auto focus with contrast detection locks on quickly at a 0.033 second shutter speed. The fixed focal length and automatic flash keep operation simple for extended sessions. A Micro-USB cable is included for charging and transferring files to a computer.

Questions about this item

Does the pink silicone case cover the USB port so I can charge without removing it?

The camera includes a Micro-USB cable for charging and data transfer; the silicone case has cut-outs for the port so the cable plugs in while the case stays on.

How do I get photos off the camera — is there a memory card slot or only the USB cable?

Connect the supplied Micro-USB cable to a computer; the camera appears as a mass-storage device so you can copy 48 MP photos and 1080P videos directly.

What ongoing power or storage items will I need to replace for a child using this daily?

The internal rechargeable battery is charged via Micro-USB and the camera uses built-in memory, so no disposable batteries or memory cards need buying later.
