Patchcord Pair for Low-Voltage Testing

This Pomona Electronics patchcord pair provides a black and a red lead for clear polarity identification. Each 24-inch lead is rated for 150 VDC at up to 5 amps. One end terminates in an alligator clip while the other uses a nickel-plated stacking banana plug. The set suits bench work and automotive electrical checks where temporary connections are required.

Voltage and Current Limits

The 150 VDC rating restricts use to low-voltage DC circuits such as battery systems, sensor wiring or hobby electronics. Exceeding the 5-amp maximum can overheat the conductors and damage the nickel-plated contacts. The alligator clips grip securely but are not designed for permanent installation or high-vibration environments. Users needing higher voltage isolation or continuous current above the rated value must select different test leads.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 24 inch length or a different size for bench work?

The 24 inch lead gives enough reach for typical bench measurements without excess cable clutter.

What does the 150 VDC rating mean when I connect this to a live circuit?

It means the leads are rated for up to 150 volts DC; do not exceed this voltage or the 5 amp current limit during use.
