What this converter does

The Portta CHX adapts composite RCA or CVBS sources — yellow, white and red cables — to an HDMI display at 720p or 1080p 60Hz. It accepts PAL, NTSC 3.58, NTSC 4.43, SECAM, PAL/M and PAL/N video standards and is powered from a USB port. The unit measures 6.2 cm by 5.1 cm by 1.68 cm and weighs 31.7 grams.

Who it suits and who it does not

It suits owners of legacy consoles such as N64, PS3, Wii or Xbox, plus VHS and VCR decks, who want a simple upscale to a modern monitor or projector. Buyers who need HDMI-to-RCA conversion, multi-input switching or capture-grade scaling should look at a different device.

Sustained-load behaviour

Continuous playback from analogue sources stays stable at the selected 720p or 1080p 60Hz output without frame drops. The passive cooling on the compact chassis handles the low power draw during long sessions, and the USB power feed remains steady for uninterrupted operation.
