A three-arm brake cylinder hone covering 3/4 to 2-1/4 inch bores, self-centering on a flexible shaft for on-car or bench use with 220 grit stones
This Powerbuilt specialty tool hones brake-cylinder bores from 3/4 inch to 2-1/4 inch diameter. It fits a 3/8" drive power drill and uses a flexible shaft with adjustable tension for on-car or bench work. The kit includes #220 medium-grit stones measuring 1-1/8 inch long. It is built for professional mechanics and weekend DIYers alike.
The three-arm design self-aligns and self-centres inside the bore, delivering an even finish without manual pressure. Adjustable tension on the flexible shaft lets the operator control stone contact for consistent material removal. No cooling system or external power beyond the drill is required, so noise and vibration stay at typical hand-drill levels.
Because it mounts in any 3/8" drill chuck, the hone works with corded or cordless drills already in the shop. The flexible shaft reaches cylinders on or off the vehicle, freeing the user from a fixed bench setup. Medium-grit stones handle general brake-cylinder refinishing; finer or coarser grades are not supplied. Lifetime warranty covers the tool against defects.

Chuck the flexible shaft into a 3/8 inch drive drill, set the adjustable tension so the three arms self-centre in the bore, then run the drill at low speed while feeding the hone smoothly.
Replace the 1-1/8 inch long #220 stones when the cutting surface glazes over or the stone diameter wears enough that the arms no longer contact the cylinder wall evenly.
Stone wear becomes the limiting factor first; as the #220 grit dulls, material removal slows and the arms can no longer maintain consistent contact across the full 3/4 to 2-1/4 inch range.
