Precision Arbor Shim 25170

The PRECISION BRAND 25170 is a steel arbor shim supplied in a pack of ten. It fits a 0.75 in inside diameter with a tolerance of +0.011/-0.000 in. The shim provides precise spacing for machinists and maintenance technicians aligning rotating components.

Steel Shim Tolerance Limits

The plain finish shim uses AISI 1008-1010 steel with a full hard temper and 80,000 psi tensile strength. Thickness is held to 0.01 in with a tolerance of +/-0.00075 in. The outside diameter measures 1.125 in with a tolerance of +/-0.002 in for consistent fit.

Pack Capacity and Fit Range

Ten shims per pack allow multiple adjustments or replacements during assembly. The tight inside diameter tolerance ensures concentric alignment on 0.75 in arbors. The ungilded steel material lacks corrosion resistance, so it is not suited for wet or chemical environments without additional protection.

Questions about this item

Which thickness should I select for a 0.0100 in shim requirement?

This pack supplies ten shims each measuring 0.01 in thick with a tolerance of ±0.00075 in, matching a 0.0100 in spec.

What does the 0.75 in inside diameter mean when the shim is on an arbor?

The bore is 0.75 in with a tolerance of +0.011/−0.000 in, so it fits a 3/4 in shaft with minimal clearance.

How does the steel grade AISI 1008-1010 affect the shim's load limit?

The material carries a tensile strength of 80,000 psi, setting the practical stress ceiling for stacking or clamping.
