Brass shim stock roll, 0.004 in. thick by 6 in. wide, 100 in. long, Grade 260 half-hard for corrosion-resistant spacing and alignment
This brass shim stock roll measures 0.0040 inch thick by 6 inches wide and 100 inches long. It meets ASTM B36, ASTM B19, CDA-260 and SAE CA-260 material quality standards for Grade 260 half-hard brass. The plain finish resists corrosion in general maintenance environments. Length tolerance is +3.000/-0.125 inch and width tolerance is +/-0.008 inch.
Builders switch to this 0.0040 inch thickness when a 0.004 inch gap must be held without compressing softer material. The half-hard temper keeps the shim flat under load while the brass alloy prevents galvanic corrosion in damp conditions. It is not for applications that require a different thickness tolerance or a non-brass alloy.
The 6 inch width lets you cut strips for flange alignment, bearing adjustment or leveling tasks without joining pieces. Brass construction frees the assembly from rust stains that carbon steel shims leave over time. The 100 inch roll length supplies multiple cuts for repeat jobs. Buyers who need wider sheets or different alloys must source alternative stock.

The width tolerance is +/- 0.008 in and the thickness tolerance is +/-10 percent, with a length tolerance of +3.000/-0.125 in.
Measure the required length, then cut with sharp aviation snips or a fine-tooth hacksaw; deburr edges gently to avoid work-hardening the Grade 260 brass.
The Grade 260 brass meets ASTM B36 and B19 for corrosion resistance; replace if surfaces show dezincification, cracking, or loss of flatness within the +/-10% thickness tolerance.
