The Presonus Eris Studio 5 is a 5.25-inch two-way active studio monitor designed for home studios and small professional mix rooms. It uses a woven glass fibre composite woofer and a 1-inch silk dome tweeter driven by an 80W bi-amplified system. The elliptical boundary modeled waveguide provides a 120-degree horizontal dispersion for a wide sweet spot.

Sustained output and thermal headroom

The bi-amplified design splits 45W to the low-frequency driver and 35W to the high-frequency driver, delivering 80W total power for continuous monitoring sessions. This architecture maintains stable output levels during extended mixing without the compression typical of single-amp designs. Acoustic Space settings (Flat, -2dB, -4dB) and Low Cut options (Flat, 80Hz, 100Hz) let you compensate for room boundary effects that become more pronounced at higher sustained volumes.

Frequency response and placement limits

The monitor reproduces 48 Hz to 20 kHz, so sub-bass content below 48 Hz requires a separate subwoofer for full-range monitoring. Vertical dispersion is narrowed to reduce desk reflections, but this also means the listening height must stay aligned with the tweeter axis for accurate high-frequency balance. At 13.84 pounds each, the cabinets need sturdy stands or a meter bridge rated for the weight.
