Promise TX4000 FastTRAK RAID controller

The Promise TX4000 FastTRAK is a PCI Ultra ATA RAID controller card designed for servers and workstations that need hardware-assisted RAID on legacy parallel ATA drives. It suits administrators maintaining older storage arrays or integrating existing Ultra ATA disks into current infrastructure.

Practical limits of the PCI Ultra ATA interface

The PCI bus and Ultra ATA standard cap sustained throughput well below modern serial interfaces, so the card cannot saturate faster drives or match newer RAID controllers. Systems without a conventional PCI slot cannot install this card, and the Ultra ATA cabling restricts maximum cable length and device count per channel.
