ProX 12 AWG 6-Conductor Cable

This 500 ft spool of ProX XC-612-500 speaker cable uses 12 AWG oxygen-free copper conductors. It is built for audio technicians, stage crews and DJs who fabricate custom speaker distribution runs. The six conductors allow multi-channel wiring in a single pull. A flexible, armoured PVC jacket withstands heavy road use and stays low-visibility on stage.

Replacing Thinner Multi-Run Cable

Upgrading from smaller-gauge or single-conductor wire reduces the number of pulls and keeps voltage drop low over long distances. The jump is worth it when you need six channels in one jacket for permanent installs or touring rigs that demand durable, repeatable performance. Buyers who only need two conductors or a shorter length will find this spool excessive.

Installation And Common Issues

The flexible jacket bends and twists easily for fast termination at connectors or terminal blocks. Copper conductors strip cleanly with standard tools. The main issue installers face is managing the weight and bulk of a 500 ft reel on tight trucks or overhead grids; plan lift points and cable rollers accordingly.

Questions about this item

What conduit size fits the 12 AWG 6-conductor cable?

The 12 AWG 6-conductor cable has a compact diameter designed for standard conduit runs; measure the outer jacket before selecting conduit to ensure proper fill ratio.

How do you terminate the Oxygen-Free Copper conductors without damaging them?

Strip each 12 AWG OFC conductor carefully with a calibrated stripper, twist strands tightly, and use crimp ferrules or screw terminals rated for 12 AWG to avoid nicking the copper.

When should the flexible PVC jacket be inspected for road wear?

Inspect the black PVC jacket after every heavy road use; replace the cable if the armour-like jacket shows cuts, abrasion, or loss of flexibility that could expose the 6 conductors.
