Mechless in-dash receiver

The Pyle PLR38I is a mechless head unit designed for vehicles that need digital media playback without a CD mechanism. It suits drivers who want AM/FM radio plus USB and SD card support in a single-DIN chassis. The semi-detachable faceplate adds a basic theft deterrent when the car is parked.

50 W × 4 output and media limits

Four channels deliver 50 watts each for a 200-watt peak total, adequate for factory speakers at moderate volumes. The USB and SD ports read MP3 and WMA files, while the front auxiliary jack accepts portable players. There is no Bluetooth, no app mirroring and no support for lossless formats such as FLAC.

AM/FM tuner and iPod interface constraints

The tuner covers standard US AM and FM bands with 10-song skip buttons and folder navigation for USB/SD media. An iPod connector on the faceplate works with older 30-pin devices but does not charge modern Lightning or USB-C models. Buyers who need hands-free calling, streaming audio or high-resolution file playback should consider a different platform.

Questions about this item

Will the PLR38I 50W x 4 amplifier work with my existing 4-ohm door speakers?

The PLR38I delivers 50 watts per channel into four channels, matching typical 4-ohm car speakers for direct connection without an external amp.

How can I verify the PLR38I USB port reads my MP3 flash drive correctly?

Insert the USB drive; the LCD multi-colour display will show ID3 tag data, track numbers and folder names if the MP3 files are recognised.

Does the PLR38I box include the semi-detachable faceplate and the front USB/SD ports, or must I buy them separately?

The semi-detachable faceplate, front USB port, front SD slot and front AUX-IN jack are all built into the unit and ship in the box.
