Quad-port 8 Gbps Fibre Channel HBA

The QLogic QLE2564 is an 8 Gbps quad-port Fibre Channel host bus adapter built for storage-area-network connectivity. It presents four optical SFP ports over a single PCI Express x8 slot, letting servers consolidate multiple FC links in one card.

Verify slot and SFP compatibility

Confirm the host system has an available PCI Express x8 slot with sufficient lane allocation for the card. Ensure the four SFP transceivers match the fibre type, wavelength and distance required by the fabric, and that the switch ports support 8 Gbps operation.

Suits multi-link SAN clusters.

This adapter targets environments that need four concurrent 8 Gbps Fibre Channel connections from one server, such as clustered storage nodes or dense virtualisation hosts. Buyers needing only a single or dual-port uplink, or a different signalling rate, should evaluate other form factors.

Questions about this item

Does the QLE2564 ship with the four 8 Gbps SFP transceivers already installed, or do I need to source them separately?

The card is supplied with four 8 Gbps SFP modules fitted, so no separate transceiver purchase is required for the optical FC ports.

How do I decide between a single-port, dual-port or this quad-port 8 Gbps Fibre Channel HBA for my server?

Choose the quad-port QLE2564 when you need four independent 8 Gbps FC connections from a single PCI Express x8 slot, reducing slot count and cabling compared with multiple lower-port cards.

What does the 8 Gbps per port rating mean for actual throughput when the card is installed in a PCIe x8 slot?

Each optical FC port delivers up to 8 Gbps line rate, and the x8 PCIe interface provides enough bandwidth to sustain full speed on all four ports simultaneously.
