Smart charger for AA and AAA cells

The Quest Q2 smart charger handles one to four AA or AAA NiMH or NiCd batteries simultaneously in four independent slots. Each slot has its own LED that shows red while charging and green when full. The unit includes four AccuPower AA NiMH cells rated at 2900 mAh and 1.2 Volt, ready for immediate use.

Thermals noise and power draw

The charger draws 9.7 W from a 120 V AC 60 Hz supply and delivers 12 V at 500 mA to the batteries. An intelligent microprocessor controls the charge cycle with negative delta V cut-off detection, a safety timer and automatic shut-off followed by a trickle charge to keep cells topped up. Short-circuit and reverse-polarity protection are built in.
