Product Identity

The Raychem 103857-000 is a self-regulating heating cable kit supplied in a 100 ft length for 240V AC operation. It is intended for indoor pipe freeze protection or temperature maintenance in residential and light commercial settings.

Pre-Installation Checks

Verify that the supply voltage matches the 240V AC 50 Hz rating and that the circuit can accommodate the 0.03 A per foot draw. Confirm the maximum circuit length of 350 ft is not exceeded and that the installation environment remains within the 150 Degrees F maximum operating temperature.

Build and Connections

The cable uses a conductive carbon core with a tinned-coated copper braid cover for durability. The kit includes a power connection kit, a roll of application tape, and a splice and tee kit to support hardwired installation without a plug.

Questions about this item

Does the kit include everything needed to install the 100 ft cable, or are extra parts required?

The kit includes the 100 ft self-regulating heating cable, a power connection kit, a roll of application tape, and a splice and tee kit for a complete installation.

How do I decide between the available cable lengths for this self-regulating model?

This kit supplies a fixed 100 ft length rated at 6 W per foot at 40°F; the maximum circuit length for the 240 V system is 350 ft if you need a longer run.

What does the 6 W per foot rating mean for heat output once the cable is powered at 240 V?

At 40°F the cable draws 6 W per foot and 0.03 A per foot on 240 V AC, and it self-regulates down as the temperature rises toward the 150°F maximum operating limit.
