Compact 98% Layout

The Redragon K742 is a compact mechanical keyboard with a 98% layout that retains a number pad and a multimedia volume knob. It targets users who want full functionality while saving desk space in office or gaming setups. Hot-swappable sockets accept both 3-pin and 5-pin switches for easy customisation.

Wireless Tri-Mode Operation

Connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.0, 2.4 GHz wireless via a storable USB dongle, and USB-C wired mode with one-click switching between up to three devices. The keyboard runs on battery power in wireless modes and draws power over USB-C when wired. A gasket structure with five layers of sound-absorbing padding reduces typing noise.

Tactile Brown Switch Feel

Pre-lubed linear brown switches provide a tactile keystroke with a 40 gf actuation force and 3.6 mm total travel, rated for 50 million presses. Double-shot PBT keycaps in OEM profile resist shine over time. Two-stage adjustable feet let you set the typing angle for comfort during long sessions.

Questions about this item

How do I install the Redragon K742 and what step do people often miss?

Connect via USB-C wired, Bluetooth 5.0, or 2.4 GHz dongle; the step often missed is pressing the dedicated mode-switch key to activate the chosen connection before pairing.

What maintenance or replacement will the Redragon K742 need later?

The hot-swappable PCB accepts 3-pin or 5-pin switches; use the included 2-in-1 puller to swap worn switches or replace double-shot PBT keycaps after heavy use.

What limit appears first during sustained use of the Redragon K742?

The RCP POM linear switches are rated for 50,000,000 keystrokes, so switch fatigue is the first long-term limit under continuous typing or gaming sessions.
